In His Own Words

“Bigger Than Me”

Whatever I do in the future, I will make sure that whoever has helped me become successful will receive something in return. All I want to do is make my family and the city I'm from proud.

D'Sean Perry, High School English Essay

“Even though there was hate and adversity, we turn it into motivation and overcame those odds.”

— D'Sean Perry, on the power of teamwork

A Beautiful Soul

D'Sean was a loving, giving, caring, God-fearing young man who made his family proud. Football and art was his passion, but the love that he had for his family, friends, and community was proven time and time again...

— Sean & Happy Perry, Parents

D'Sean was a delightful, respectful, hard-working person who was one of the best overall young men our communities had to offer. He had a fierce competitive nature, but he was kind and had a strong faith.

— Earl Sims, Jr., High School Football Coach

He wasn't just an athlete — he was an artist, a poet, a musician. He saw beauty in everything and created beauty wherever he went. The world lost a true Renaissance man.

D'Sean taught us that you can be tough on the field and gentle in the studio. He broke every stereotype and showed that strength and creativity go hand in hand.

My son's legacy is not how he died — it's how he lived. He lived with purpose, with love, and with a fire to make everyone around him better.

He'd fill sketchbooks on road trips, play classical music in the locker room, and then go out and play like a warrior on the field. D'Sean was one of a kind.
